Books – Moataz Abbas:

Syrian artist Mona Wassef revealed that she entered the field of art and learned to recite the Holy Qur’an for the sake of art.

Wassef said that the artistic works she presented on the national stage were in Arabic or translated, stressing that the artist must learn to speak classical Arabic.

She added in her meeting with journalist Amr Adeeb on BigTimePodcast that she learned to recite the Holy Qur’an for the sake of art, because if some words stopped us, we would not go back to the dictionary, but go back to the Holy Qur’an, and we had professors who were proficient in the Arabic language teaching us at the university.

She pointed out that her husband was a soldier and was assigned to work on Syrian Arab Television in 1964, and she would stay at home for long periods of time. After he finished his military service, he did not tell her about this so that she would not ask to return to acting again.
