Al Hilal won the Saudi Football Super Cup with a 4-1 victory over Al Ittihad, the holder of the previous edition’s title – today, Thursday – at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Al Hilal quickly took the lead after five minutes after wonderful teamwork between Malcolm and Saleh Al Shehri, who passed to his Brazilian colleague to shoot into the net from a one-on-one position.

Abdul Razzaq Hamdallah equalized for Al-Ittihad in the 21st minute, after he received a penalty kick awarded by the referee following a challenge with Renan Lodi. The Moroccan shot it and his compatriot Yassine Bounou blocked it before it rebounded to him and he put it into the net from close range.

One minute before the end of the first half, Salem Al-Dosari was able to put his team in the lead by scoring the second goal (44), so the first half ended with Al-Azraq leading by two goals to one.

Al-Dosari reached goal number 19 during the current season with Al-Hilal, and made 10 goals, bringing his total contributions to 25.

In the second half, Malcolm returned to add the third goal in the 89th minute after receiving a pass from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to elude Al-Ittihad defender Ahmed Hegazy and shoot into the net.

In the sixth minute of stoppage time, substitute Nasser Al-Dosari completed Al-Hilal’s quadruple when he took advantage of a rebound from the goalkeeper and shot into the net from close range.

Al-Hilal had qualified for the final by defeating Al-Nasr in the semi-final, while Al-Ittihad qualified at the expense of Al-Wahda.

The conflict between Al Hilal and Al-Ittihad, the holder of the previous Super Cup title, will be renewed when they meet in the semi-finals of the King’s Cup on April 30.
