Major General Mounir Thabet, brother of Suzanne Mubarak, widow of former President Hosni Mubarak, died today, Sunday.
This came according to what Khaled Thabet, Suzan Mubarak’s nephew, wrote on his personal Facebook account: “To God we belong and to Him we shall return… My father, Major General Munir Thabet, has passed away to the mercy of God Almighty… O God, forgive him, have mercy on him, protect him, pardon him, and grant him peace.” heaven”.
Who is Major General Mounir Thabet?
Major General Pilot Mounir Saleh Thabet was born on October 29, 1936, in the city of Qena. He is the son of pediatrician Saleh Thabet, and the brother of Suzanne Mubarak, the wife of the late President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak.
Thabet was a member of the Egyptian shooting team, and served as president of the Egyptian Olympic Committee from 1990 to 1993.
He also assumed the position of President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee again, during the period from 1996 to 2009.
The late pilot Mounir Thabet was a member of the International Olympic Committee from 1998 to 2016, and received honorary membership in 2017.
The deceased, also a retired Egyptian military pilot, was director of the Military Procurement Office in Washington. He served as chairman of the board of directors of the Egyptian Air Services Company and a member of the board of directors of EgyptAir.
He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab World Aviation and Hotels Company, and was governor of Rotary District 2450, which includes several countries, including: (Egypt – Jordan – Sudan – Lebanon – Cyprus – United Arab Emirates – Armenia – Georgia – Bahrain).
