The injury keeps Benzema away from Al-Ittihad against Al-Fateh in the Saudi League

The absence of French star Karim Benzema, a striker, was confirmed Jeddah Unionabout facing its host Al-Fateh due to injury, which is scheduled for nine o’clock in the evening today, Saturday, at the “Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Sports City” stadium, as part of the 24th round of the Saudi Professional League.

According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiah, Benzema participated for only 5 minutes in his team’s group training, last Thursday, before he left after the return of pain in his lower back.

The newspaper added that Benzema went to the clinic, and did not leave with the Al-Ittihad delegation to Al-Ahsa in preparation for the match due to lack of readiness, in addition to Saad Al-Mousa, the defender, who attended the medical clinic to continue treatment.

The 36-year-old French striker participated in 23 matches with the Tigers team in various competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing 7 assists.

Al-Ittihad achieved victory in the last round of the Saudi League, at the expense of the Al-Akhdood team, by two goals to one.

Ittihad Jeddah occupies fourth place in the league standings with 40 points, while Al-Fateh comes in ninth place with 31 points and is looking forward to revenge for the first round defeat.

Al-Hilal tops the Saudi League standings, with 65 points, then Al-Nasr comes in second place, with 56 points.
