English Liverpool put one foot forward in the quarter-finals of the Europa League football competition with a great victory over its Czech host Sparta Prague 5-1 on Thursday in the first leg of the 16th round, while Roma stunned its English guest Brighton with a clean 4-0 victory.

For its part, German Bayer Leverkusen escaped defeat against its host, Karabakh, Azerbaijan, as it succeeded in overturning a two-goal deficit to a 2-2 draw.

The Azerbaijani team took the lead in the 26th minute through Algerian Yacine Benzia, and Brazilian Juninho added the second goal in the second minute of stoppage time in the first half.

Roma sweeps Brighton

Jonathan David scored the first goal for the French team in the 28th minute, the same player added the second goal in the 51st minute, and Idon Zegrova added the third goal for Lille in the 71st minute.

Norwegian Molde beat its Belgian club, Club Brugge, 2-1. Molde took the lead in the 43rd minute with a goal scored by Halldor Stefnik, and Club Brugge equalized with a penalty kick goal scored by Maxime De Cubier in the 85th minute.

In the second minute of stoppage time for the second half, Frederik Gulbrandsen scored Molde’s second goal.
